Dye your own scarf with Organic Indigo (Maya Blue)

Learn about Indigo (Maya Blue) at an Hacienda, which is one of only two farms in the world with a certification for the highest quality organic indigo. You will also have the opportunity to dye your own scarf.

Indigo is a natural blue dye extracted from the Xiquilite plant. It was used by the Mayans for their clothing and crafts. We will enjoy a private and exclusive tour of the Hacienda with its administrator, who will share the history and process of indigo production. If in season, we will witness the actual process of how the green leaves, when mixed with water, produce the blue color inside the "obraje." Then, we will participate in a hands-on workshop where the artisans will show us different techniques for dying our scarf.
