Visit an archaeological site with and archaeologist

El Salvador is home to the unique Maya archaeological site of Joya de Ceren, a UNESCO world heritage site. Explore it along with a Salvadoran Archaeologist and learn about the everyday lives of the common people who lived 1,400 years ago in what is now El Salvador.

Joya de Ceren is sometimes referred to as “the Pompeii of the Americas” since this village was buried under the ashes of an eruption of Caldera Volcano, allowing us to witness the everyday lives of the common Maya people 1,400 years ago.  This makes it a unique place in the Maya World. The Salvadoran archaeologist will guide us through the sites and will also tell us the history of its discoveries.
